Boredom Vs Hunger
Are you hungry or eating because you’re bored? Just like hunger can be confused with thirst, so boredom can take over and make you snack away unnecessarily. And eating out of boredom can lead to overeating – and we don’t want that! Here are some easy ways to stop your boredom eating habits, courtesy of Bistromd.com.
- Next time you’re bored, get yourself a nice cold glass of water and drink up. Chances are you’re probably only thirsty, and water is definitely a better choice than chocolates, sweets or crisps.
- Go for a walk, put on a movie or start reading a book – if you have time to be bored, you have time to read.
- Plate your food, say experts. Don’t snack out of a packet or Tupperware. Put some on a plate and satisfy your hunger (if that’s what it is).
- Chew on some gum – it will distract you from the so-called hunger and prevent you from snacking on junk.
- SO, if you really are hungry, and you really do need a snack, here are some guilt-free ones to have in the house.
- 1. Carrots And Hummus: These are the best little treats to satisfy your hunger with without piling on the calories. According to Bistromd.com, ‘carrots and hummus provide ample amounts of nutrients and healthy fats while keeping calories in check’.
- Popcorn: But hold the butter, of course. It’s filling, it’s tasty and, without added butter and oil, it’s a delicious healthy snack.
- Unsalted Nuts: While nuts in general are a better choice than crisps, the unsalted ones are just healthier. They’re good for you and easy to carry around – but remember to eat them in moderation as they can pile on the kilos if not.
- Peanut Butter With Celery Or Apple Slices: Both celery and apple go great with peanut butter – and yes, in moderation here too, of course. Peanut butter is a low-carbohydrate snack and the celery and apple slices are both practically calorie-free. Stick to peanut butter with no added sugar or palm oil, though.
